Attendance2000
School2000
offers a number of ways to enter and manage attendance. In Primary schools
only Session attendance (morning and afternoon) is marked/managed, although
we can enable Period attendance, if required. In secondary schools, both
Session attendance as well as Lesson attendance is marked/managed.
Lesson attendance can be mapped to morning and/or afternoon session attendance.
Teachers can view the previous attendance for that period/subject for the year
Teachers can also
click on photographs of students to mark them ABSENT or LATE. This is
useful for supply teachers who may not be able to recognize students.
We first implemented this module in St. Augustine School, Oxford Road,
London. Please click Reference if required
The most popular way
is to enter/manage attendance on Networked
PCs, Laptops and Pocket-PCs
Networked
PCs Laptops
and Pocket-PCs
- PCs, Laptops
and Pocket-PCs must be networked to the School2000 server
- Laptops are
heavy and cumbersome to carry from class to class. If teachers already
have Laptops, then they may not need Pocket-PCs
- Palm2000
(below) is an option
Palm2000s
are off-line devices
- Palm2000s
work off-line and do not need any network access
- Palm2000s
being off-line devices work in and out of the school
- They work out
of the school, in the playground and during field trips
- Teachers have
reliable/constant access to their students' records
- Palm2000s
are small, light, portable and fits into shirt pockets and handbags
- Palm2000s
boot in less than a second
- PCs and Laptops
are prone to virus attack. Palm2000s are not
- Attendance
and grades can be entered and managed on the Palm2000
- Teachers can
send/receive messages and Emails to other teachers, parents and
students from their Palm2000s
- Palm2000s
update School2000 using a cable/cradle or IrDA/Infrared
- School2000
provides driver for Palm IIIXEs to function as Palm2000
Pocket
PCs are getting
popular with teachers
- Pocket-PCs
is similar to and work like Palm2000
- Pocket-PCs
may be networked, Internet enabled or work with cables/cradles
- School2000
works with most versions/models of Pocket-PCs. However please check
for compatibility
- Schools must
purchase Intranet software for Pocket-PCs
Scanner
and Fax update
- Teachers can
update attendance by scanning and Emailing
an attendance-form
- Attendance
is marked on a Fax-attendance A4 sheet, that is printed on any Windows
printer
- Please ask
for a sample Fax attendance sheet,
if you are interested
- Standard/plain/white
A4 sheets are used
- Students are
marked 'absent' for selected sessions/periods using a black felt-tipped
or marker pen
- The document
is then scanned, sent by Fax or my Email attachment to School2000
- This is similar
to using OMR (Optical Mark Reading) that is used in SIMs/Capita
- Scanners and
Fax options are useful where attendance is marked offsite
